Goodbye

Goodbye

A Poem by Essa G

We used to have so much fun

We used to tell everyone

All our stories and our secrets

And the ones we used to love

I used to call us friends

But now you seem so distant

I keep all our memories

And treasures in my hand

I'm sorry I couldn't be

The one you thought was me

And I'm sorry I couldn't do

Everything you wanted me to

I tried so very hard

But all I got were scars

I began to loose the game

So in the end I just gave up

One, two, three, four, five

That's how many times I cried

Every single night

I was too afraid and shy

I'm sorry I couldn't be

The one you thought was me

And I'm sorry I couldn't do

Everything you wanted me to

So let it go and set me free

You can't control what I feel

If I give up and quit

You can't do a thing about it

I can't talk about

The things you shout aloud

The things you laugh about

I'm sorry that I let you down

I'm sorry I couldn't be

The one you thought was me

And I'm sorry I couldn't do

Everything you wanted me to

So now I say goodbye

To you and those nights I cried

I can be who I want to be

If I stand up and try

Goodbye to everything we said

To the treasures in my head

Those memories in my hand

And our footprints in the sand

And now I say goodbye

And I stand stronger and fight

I guess forever in your mind

Is only a matter of time

To you I say goodbye

To the world I say hello

And I'll rise above the sky

And though I failed you

I promise I'll make it all

I love to sing and baking, but singing the most. Writing is more of a hobby for me. I've written a novel called 'Silver' and I'm in the process of writing the sequel, which is called Prophetess. I hop.. more..
