FROZEN MOONLIGHT

FROZEN MOONLIGHT

A Poem by Vidushi Sharma
"

Story of a betrayal by husband to his wife for the sake of money. But late Wife does not forgives easily.....

"
On cold and still December night,
Under clear sky and frozen moonlight,
I passed on my way under a peeple tree
At home this time I was suppose to be.
Suddenly a thin white figure appeared.
Prevailing silence in air looked weird.
Dizzy and mist, it was white,
Against dark ,it looked bright.
An ominous chill ran down my spine.
And something whirled in my head like wine.
For a pulse of second I lost track of life,
Oh, there stood in white my late wife!
She was the same as when she was dead.
Black curls shone on her head.
She stood like an angel in the mid air,
She spoke in mild voice, rare.
‘I didn’t believed at first how I died
and to my pulse less heart I lied,
in return to all my love to you,
I got a beautiful heaven’s view.
Remember the day I became your bride
You looked at me with so much pride.
Then tell me how I died so soon?
Tell me in the name of this shining moon.’
Shivering head to toe ,I stood.
How am I to answer? oh fate rude!
Then I spoke in chilled , strange sound,
Turning my memories in past round.
“you were my most prized possession,
but then in this time of recession
I lost my money and became bankrupt.
Curse this system , so very corrupt.
Life lost all its peace and pleasure.
And my great down fall had no measure.
Today to you, all my sins I confess.
A lady came to improve my life’s mess.
sHe had power and a big bank balance,
That could get my life air of nonchalance.
sHe wanted to marry me instead.
So of you I had to get anyhow rid!”
Apparition stood still in atrocious night.
On her face wrath was bright.
“Just for the sake of money, you lead
Me to my unready grave lying dead!”
“this soul of mine is searching peace.
won’t forgive you even if you beg on your knees”
stunned I was and had nothing to say.
And I saw her figure fade away.
Guilty at heart and mournful eyes,
Life is such a game of dice!
There was a painful moment of dark ray,
Then I saw my body lying a feet away!

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! I enjoyed the story…it was lovely to read and flowed well! I felt a little sorry for the husband but not enough to have you change the ending…

Those moments are always my best...when something comes from nothing!
