The way we are treading

The way we are treading

A Poem by MKERED

For F**k’s sake just sit down a moment

And breath breath breath.

Now, what is it like?

It is like the vitality of the unexceptional

Rough fabric walls, tacked full of holes

Wallpaper documents

Inoffensive color scheme

Emptyish shelves with dusty motivational placards

3 bulbed agitated fluorescents middle bank

dark. Nod to efficiency.

A clock ten minutes slow.

used mostly for arrivals not leavings.

Red chair dark and dirty between two legs

where the crumbs fall.

Where I wipe my hands,

a no napkined, sloppy man I suppose.

Three ring binder proof of projects past

monument not reference.

Large posterboard flow charts

the lightless row of managing offices

On a circumspect Friday of quiet hums

cafeteria closed today.

One elevator down.

Sibilant far off whisper of a copier at work.

It is, of course, a sacred place but

Requires so much sadness.

Shrugging at sterility.

Praising godly inertia and not a dream in sight.
