Dark is My Door

Dark is My Door

A Poem by Shayla Sayer

red is my heart

lying there on the floor

black is the shadow

hovering by my door

before it can enter

i must invite--

but i shall speak no greeting

for it migght

be my nightmares incarnate

my one greatest fear

fear of drowning, fear of death

fear of losing everything dear

could i-- would i--

lose all control...?

red is my heart

and dark is my door.

Such is the red of a broken, bleeding heart. Laden with fear of opening up again... afraid to invite another. Well written Shayla...speaks volumes

i liked the phrase "before it can enter i must invite--". A bit of mystery. Great poem. Nice and simple with good effect.
