Take HeedA Poem by Shayla Sayerim not sure where this came from. feedback is welcome. What is wrong with the world? These tedious days Filled with insecurities and doubt All are captured within the same tragic flaw And the timeless fear of death ensnares all In its silken folds. I pause before saying Another destructive word For we live in an awful silence And humanity’s actions are hard to love. All have an absurd deadline to meet With life’s indifference beating down on the backs Of those struggling to not repeat the past. God pronounces us dead before we are gone And leaves us in front of heaven’s gates Without a key. Simply to state one’s feelings is unheard of All hide behind a web of lies and half-truths Afraid of the reality, and what it might do To their carefully constructed illusion. Has the world changed? Or have I? All shed tears of regret As the last hour comes upon them And their whispers of “Why me?” Fall to collect among the words Uttered by the countless masses Prayers to none. They mention such sadness And evoke the things that happen daily For none have realized That what you put out Is all you will receive And if you only raise your voice In sadness and despair How can you expect happiness and joy To be given in return? © 2011 Shayla SayerFeatured Review
