Write Language

Write Language

A Poem by Shelly Bell
"

excuse all typos and errors....I meant for my mistakes to happen...

"
I'm on the run from blank pages
blank stares at blank stages
the lack of movement in the audience never ceases to amaze me
they don't get it.

I just said the deepest s**t ever and they can't even be critics
give them a shovel and a slave and they still can't dig it
maybe I should sing my guts in lyrics
use auto tune to kill the spirits

say something catchy then, tell'em it will make money appear if
they shake their a*s for fame
because the strip club is the only place where money can rain...

that's an ignorant thought....
my enlightening light bulb comes on
OUR LANGUAGE IS OFF

we turned the word bad into good
we create hood anthems
we treat expensive cars like buckets
and expensive jeans like luxuries
Your ego is hanging out TUCK IT

We make it sexy to call a man daddy
but call our real daddy's by their names
we shortened up boy to b
n***a to nephew
an being black to an excuse
I have the right to abuse the english language just cuz I was a slave
"who gon check me boo."

There are lots of poems about this very same thang
but we gon write it over and over screaming we all in the same gang
while the rest of the light shines on the people we who have fame
all you gotta do is get robbed, raped, or jumped out of the crypts, bloods,
MS 13 names and enter into the BLAME GANG

we don't rob people physically but we spread excuses habitually
and as long as I'm making money you can't say s**t to me.
Am I punished with being black and you blessed with not being me
I just want my people to get out of blackness mentally.

Looking for someone to represent me is imprisoning me mentally
but the more I try to represent me I seem to turn my back on black resentfully.
If you speak proper then you're being too good.
if my kids don't have on urban clothes then they don't have enough hood.

Write to change the world?
I wish I could.
but I will start with writing to change your vocabulary because "BAD" does not mean "GOOD."
