First Flight

First Flight

A Poem by by.alice.gwen

She emerges from the chrysalis

exhilarated,

glowing and gorgeous,

her wings still soft and damp.

She takes flight...

... and doesn’t yet realize

how fragile she is

how easily she can break and tear

how near she is to death.

I adore this!! It’s refreshing light and dark at the same time it leaves a sense of “too good to be true” as if the future self is speaking back or as if some wise old man is speaking of his past or even a sense of the end is near but I will fight. It’s Fantastic. I love the wording and how the imagery is used.

I think there's a little universal truth of life in this little poem. Excellent work.
