Goodbye

I wasn't supposed to love you,
you love my best friend.
So why do I have these feelings
that will hurt others in the end?

They do not go away
no matter how hard I try.
But I simply cannot tell you,
I would rather break down and cry.

No one knows how I feel for you
and I hope to keep it that way.
Because I think if they found out
they would turn and walk away.

Before these feelings get out of control,
I think I will slip quietly away.
I never thought this day would come
when I'd have to say goodbye.
