The Cockatiel

The Cockatiel

A Poem by Panda
"

So I've had this idea running through my head for a few days now. Didn't know how to write it out until now :) Hope you like it. <3

"

Once I was free

Able to fly wherever I pleased

The fastest a bird could soar

Escaping the claws of the predators I teased

But one day I was captured

And was locked up in a cage

A creature that intrigued me

I soon tried learning his ways

“I love you.”

I don’t understand

“I love you too.”

I’ll mimic what I can

What are these sounds I can copy?

Their meanings are unknown to me

Why am I still in this cage?

Will you ever set me free?

I don’t understand you at all

My freedom you did steal

So why do I enjoy this captivity?

Will you let me be your cockatiel?
