The Goodbye You Asked For

The Goodbye You Asked For

A Poem by Panda
"

goodbye to friendship..

"
Unsure footsteps echo
Down an abandoned hall in an elementary school
Voices of invisible children watching
Whispering, "You were a fool!"

Messy drawings of pleasant memories
in empty classrooms

False pinky swears with sly fingers
But in the shadows is where
The devouring truth still lingers

"You were careless and now it's dead."
Taunting laughter repeats in your head
You held onto a poisonous snake
When you should've let go instead

Broken best friend forever necklaces
Old favored pictures lay fading on the ground
The shouts of your last fight break the silence
And you cover your ears to erase the sound

Running back to the door of which you came
Passing smashed toys in the floor
And still they say in glee
"Isn't this the goodbye you were asking for?"
