The Road

The Road

A Poem by silentwriter180

The road I travel is rocky
With many stones
That make me think
Just where am I going?
Why am I traveling?
Where do I expect to stop?
How do I get there?

I don't know, I say
Just keep going
Someday it will end
The road will smooth out
But will it?

How far do I need to go?
When does all this stop?
Where will it take me?
Why do I need to follow?

What would happen if I
Were to steer
Into another direction?
Will there be a fork to set
Me onto another road?

Just what is beyond the horizon>
What will I see?
When will I meet my fate?
Why do I need to  travel so far?
So long?

Just where does it all end?

there are roads along which we travel through and for various purposes... your 'The Road' gives rise to many questions that many of us pilgrims will ask .... and consequently has an appeal on so many different levels..... nice one..... Neville

my pleasure
and even stopping at a rest stop won't help, because the questions won't be answered until we get there.
I heard a good saying once..."wherever you go in life, there you are"
this poem is expressive, and allows us some introspection along the way...
nicely done.
