The Princess And MeA Poem by C.R.TurnerSorry, you might need a bucket for this.. :)
Eyes down, look away, say nothing.
An absurd mistake has been made... I am sitting here in a pub - having lunch with a Princess! Talking as equals - laughing and joking, staring deep into her dark green eyes. My hand, touching hers, my heart, bulging. I am touching her hair, playing it with my fingers, caressing the curve of her face, looking down at her smiling mouth, just as she is looking down at mine, chatting and laughing - alone in the crowded room. Her hand is touching mine, caressing me as she recounts another tale from her charmed life... I'm afraid to look around. Why has nobody noticed? Has she perhaps escaped her castle on some childish, aristocratic dareto fraternise among commoners? If so, what on Earth does she see in me? How long before the cover is blown, the footmen called, and I am once again consigned to the dungeon, and she to her tower? Or maybe - just maybe, the gods have actually made some clerical error, too wrapped up in their game of galactic golf, and I might actually have a chance with her????
