Summer

Summer

A Poem by Justin Tobey
"

A description of summer in poem form. Not very original, I'll admit, but I can't think of much more.

"

Breezes push through

Tall, strong trees.

Radiant, golden light

Streams through the leaves.

Above, shreds of cloud

Are scattering the skies.

The blazing hot sun

Dries any stray water.

Plants wilt, grass browns.

The night skies clear

And fill with stars

Of brightest hue.

Fire reigns supreme

In this season of heat.

Fireflies buzz

Through crisp, clear nights.

A time of new things,

Where the old is brushed back

To cleanse the earth

With fire's purity.

This will be the first in a series about the seasons. I know that's kind of obvious, but whatever. I don't care.

I just adore the last two stanzas. The image of the fireflies - I'm soooo loving that! :)
