The Sun

The Sun

A Poem by Justin Tobey
"

A tribute to the sun, the brightest of all flames...

"

On the edge of the world,

The shadows stir.

They grow restless,

Bending and twisting.

A fierce yellow glow

Appears on the horizon

And spreads out, shining.

All colors are present.

Finally, the sun rises,

Shredding the night

And filling in the day

With warmth and heat.

It's dazzling to behold

In full bloom, like a blossom

Slowly opening up

To take in the sky.

Clouds can hide its light,

But only for short periods.

The sun will always come back

To give the light of truth.

At the zenith, it blinds

And its power is full,

But, like all things,

It wanes, eventually.

On the horizon, a fierce battle.

Day and night struggle,

But night succeeds

And the sun is cast out.

It comes back always,

Fighting and dying,

To support our existence

With shining rays of love.
