Subtle

Subtle

A Poem by Justin Tobey
"

I really have no idea where this one came from, but I'm glad it did!

"

A glimmer of iridescence

on the edge of my consciousness

opens my soul to the currents

of the winds of change and destiny.

It first reveals wisdom and truth,

which manifest as physical, silvery sight.

After all, how can we truly see

what we cannot yet understand?

The subtle energies cocoon around us,

connecting and guiding us

in the form of muses, spirits, angels.

The ever-changing song aloft in the wind

sifts through each of us

as though we are not but grains of sand

or swirling, vaporous shreds

of luminous mist.

It reveals itself to us

in the sparkle of a star

in the whisper of a cloud

in the constantly unique burst

of gold and ruby radiance on the horizon.

It is all that is unique

in this world of differing truths.

Some are as easy to see

as monumental mountains,

yet others are as subtle

as a mote of dust in the wind.

Thats very profound Justin and very beautifully written. I like the way you spoke of the energy of muses, angels and spirits around us. Most people are not that aware of parallel lives that intertwine with ours all the time, nor are they aware of how connected we all are, and that we are all masses of energy. We all encompass the holiness of God and rarely recognize it. The universe wants only our good and is always longing to support us if we but become aware, and learn to whisper Yes.

This is such a lovely poem! Sometimes the glimmer of something, a thought, an observation, the penetration of consciousness by a striking line of poetry rattles around our consciousness for days, months, years, decades even. Then in some unknown magic, a poem appears wholly in conscousness or writes itself out fluently (or not). I'm like you about this one: it has that feel of coming from that place where the material world intersects the eternal.
