Faradhi Colors

Faradhi Colors

A Poem by Justin Tobey
"

This poem was inspired by Melanie Rawn's "Dragon Prince" and "Dragon Star" trilogies... In them, faradhi, or Sunrunners, have the power to project their souls onto the sunlight. It made me think...

"

Colors spin and dance,

in a rich tapestry of crystal threads.

In the clear blue sky,

under the shining sun.

Clarity of sight and mind

accompany the blessed flight.

Tendrils of thought and sunbeams

snake their sparkling way

across the clear sky.

During those brief respites,

the soul is freed of its prison of flesh.

Feelings and words are projected,

showing the true essence of the weaver.

What would I be, I wonder?

So many colors to choose from

in so many ways...

But only one could ever be me.

Sapphire, emerald, onyx, amber;

a million gems in liquid light

framed in the blazing golden brilliance

of the sun's true glory.

Fire and air blossom

in a vast conjuring of power.

The elements merge

in the fiery veil of sunlight.

As night passes, restrain comes as well,

until the silver-blue moons float over the edge

and give their soft, refined radiance

to those gifted with their powers.

As two minds touch,

a fragmented moment of understanding

bolts through them both.

Compassion and wisdom

are encompassed by the pure light.

As always, feel free to critique. Also, as I said before, this poem is inspired by two fabulous fantasy trilogies, "Dragon Prince" and "Dragon Star," both by Melanie Rawn.

Justin - A lovely piece. I would look to remove words like "a", "the", "are", etc.
