Past Life

Past Life

A Poem by Justin Tobey

A flicker, a flash.

Memories of memories

stir deep inside

the well of my thoughts.

A brief image, a thought,

a feeling. Nothing more.

Yet with it,

whole lives resurface.

A vision reconstructs,

pieces of the puzzle

falling into place

like glass tiles

in a window.

Fragment after fragment

Sifted and sorted

Until a world is revealed.

A phantasmal journey

Through time and space

Takes place in the corridors of my thought.

What are these scenes acting out

In the Great Stage?

A lock of dark bronze hair.

A forest of deep green,

wreathed in the blue light

of the twilit sky.

Echoes of the past?

Gathering clouds of the future?

Or a distant present,

Veiled in half-truths?

Justin, this is brilliant, images of cascading glass, fragments of memories, taken to another place and time,
to be honest i would hate to think people have earthly past lives, perhaps past lives from astral plane
as in theosophy and the belielf that souls live in the astral before earthly existence, in any regard, awsome

Meh
Yet another great work, Justin! Brings back things we cannot fully recall, but expresses perfectly the idea of who we are, how far we have come, and what is to become of us.

Justin - It was so nice to read your work again. As always, you are outstanding when it comes to creating scenes through the combination of images you use. This is lovely.

One nitpick: twilit
