The End of a Friendship

The End of a Friendship

A Poem by simplisticisms
"

I don't think that this is a great piece of literature or anything, but it helped me express some of the pain of my situation. That is the most any of us can hope to do, I think.

"

I told you

How much I cared

And you told me

To stop so

I did

You are sorry

And want it all

Back but it

Is already

Gone

You regret the

Words that hurt

But they

Are already

Said

You miss the

Way we were

Friends before

But I am

Numb

I told you

How much I cared

And you told me

To stop so

I did

I really enjoy your use of parallel structure here: the beginning and ending stanzas are the same and are told in first person narrative, while the middle three stanzas are in second person narrative - this technique really emphasizes the broken relationship. Short and simple but the emotion conveyed is very powerful.
