BrokenA Poem by TheSage
Broken
A bond of such pure iron Was made to remain unbroken, But now fissures splinter to life From the weight of words
unspoken. More priceless than untainted
silver, More precious than purest gold, But for a lack of conflict’s
sake, A story must remain untold. Never to see the flowers grow, Or watch another bud blossom, New growth spring forth, toward
the sky God’s precious gift in a power so
awesome. A power so casually taken away, Never to see the spring bloom and
rise, Or watch the caress of the sun’s
warming rays To see recognition in their
bright eyes. A stranger to those given you by
God; Isolated, trapped, distant. Driven away by the mutual roots, Turned malignant in a single
instant. A bond forged of steel Unconditionally depends On the whim of nature’s moods As you grasp the fraying ends. All you can do is desperately
cling To the mast on the raging seas, Await welcoming bells that are
never to ring, And a long-awaited, favorable
breeze. © 2014 TheSage |
