A Poem by S. K. Burke

He marched to the front
of the room and stood smiling,
his uniform ironed
and belt buckles shining.

But when he began, his voice trembled,
as he spoke to the class.
I wondered how he'd ever hold a gun
with hands shaking like that.

Speaking and being a soldiers. Two different actions. You took reader to interesting place and left the reader with something to think about. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry. I like the poetry that create reaction.
