The Things I Tell Myself

The Things I Tell Myself

A Poem by kaycee

you're going to stay away.
and this time i'll let you.
won't wait around, i tell myself.
next time we run into each other,
i hope my hair's down
so you can see how long it will have grown.

don't be sad, i'll tell myself,
he'll miss you when you're not around.

maybe i'll shake a little at first
but it will get better; these

little lies i tell myself.

these little lies that keep me (in)sane.

I adored this piece. I'd have to say that my favorite parts were:
"i hope my hair's down
so you can see how long it will have grown."
I found that just so... I don't know.
It almost seemed as though you wanted to show him that even though he's gone your world hasn't stopped turning.
and
" these little lies that keep me (in)sane."
That was the perfect ending. I loved that line.
I'm adding this poem to my favorites.

I love the simplicity of this line
"i hope my hair's down
so you can see how long it will have grown."

the whole poem is wonderful. And intense. But mellow all at once.
Kudos.
