Us, the squirrels

Us, the squirrels

A Poem by sk8y

Alone. An outsider.
Not afraid - alone.
A world larger than our own.
We go unnoticed through.

A world so full and yet so
lackluster too.

Where was everything?

All around us and nowhere to be seen

We were the squirrels,
we were everywhere
we were nowhere.

The squirrels were outsiders,
foreigners to this land.
And yet they all lives inside,
together, alone.

The lone rabbit lived here too
in a world larger than his own.
He went through unnoticed,
the same as us - and the squirrels.

An outsider of his own fashion
The rabbit
He knew his place here
The squirrels never figured it out.

We all want to be the rabbit
but often fall short in the land of squirrels.
