Terminal: Denial

Terminal: Denial

A Poem by LDstill
"

The first in a series of poems I've written from the point of view of a man in hospice care.

"

It’s funny

When someone in a white coat

Tells you you’re going to die

A desperate laugh

Escapes your throat

As if you just got the punch line

To some disgusting joke

For a while you argue

They must have it wrong

It couldn’t happen to you

They fucked it up

Test me again you’ll see you were wrong

But sooner or later

It hits you in the chest

They can’t do anything to save you

A feeling of dread fills the air

And sucks up all the rest
