Heartbound

Heartbound

A Poem by UnderTheDeadPoetTree
"

What else but love

"
You believe there exists in time, the perfect moment.
Where all roads intersect and you can see all around,
The way is clear, unobstructed and unbroken,
You try to get there, to her, homeward bound.

Somewhere along the way to this perfect moment, you got lost.
You had the destination in your sights, your purpose clear in your mind.
You followed it faithfully, never straying, not a single detour.
Now you're stood still, frozen, weary and blind.

You've heard there are shortcuts to this wonderful place.
All you see in magazines are ways to go there with incredible pace.
But this is not a sprint.
You understand that.
You hope that.
There is no magic trick, no shortcut, no pulling rabbits from hats.

No.
This is a journey only you can make. Your path.
You will get there, to her, and it will be the perfect moment you wished for.
All things will fall into place as you'd planned, they had to, you did the math.
You checked every sentence, every gesture, made sure never to ignore.

These things, these calculations of the heart are futile and naive.
No one can formulate feelings, you cannot tune the heart strings.
You can try, but will they be feelings or thinkings?
Will they be real and honest? No. Better stick to what the heart sings.

That is what I've learnt on this journey.
There is no way to get there.
The secret is to just wander and someday you'll turn around and there it will be.
You cannot go looking for it, only look out for it.
Make sure to be aware.
It can be quick and/or fickle. You must grab and take care of it lest it flee.

When we walk this road with someone in mind.
This is a road paved from the choices entwined.

Underthedeadpoettree - The learned say passion often waits at the brink of extinction for someone to resurrect it or it waits at the brink of eruption for someone to ignite it. In either case, better grab that perfect moment while it's still in the heart and before it's all gone. I liked this Utdpt. Namyh
