Layde's Prayer

Layde's Prayer

A Poem by SM Davis
"

the saga of the Layde and the Knight by Ken and I continues...

"

Oh Night, pray I to thee
upon thy darkness must be salvation mine
thy luminous sky as stones doth shine
the man for whom this heart mine beats
hath to his deity made his vow
below thee praying stand I now

Solemnly to thee I speak
Truth be known upon this stone bow I
as to thee make I this vow mine

thy truth is yet as sight unseen
forsake shall I mine covenant day
this absence forlorn his heart kept bay

Treachery be mine forth from this day
a curse of ancients send to his deity
love from his heart sent forth did he
strength of steel retile pierced not love from me
Azure sea of love and pain a moment’s glance
brought forth from this birthed still romance

What love professed his deity in vain
that this mine heart stolen on wedding day

I will try to fool myself by trying to write as you do but the story line is clear and beautifully penned.

And yet another honour that fits the jigsaw so eloquently.

The symbolism along with the self-titled imagery stands out as the sun would on a bright, cloudless day. The tone is vibrant and strong ... the ring of treachery sure permeats through the last verse in amiable lustre.
