One Good Year

One Good Year

A Poem by Stefon Napier

There are still moments all year

Such dates are scrawled into calendar corners

For every common day frayed,

The edges of which go from invisible to silent,

There’s a wish.

1991

I woke up as Stefon.

Edgar had died in Baltimore many years before.

There's a wish

The edges of which go from invisible to silent

For every common day frayed

Such dates are scrawled into calendar corners

There are still moments like these all year.

There are many dates carved into the calendar that are fraught with meaning. May you have many more happy ones than sad ones.

Well done! I am trying to remember the name of this form and sadly I am having a senior moment. The inversion is done effortlessly. I really like the line "edges of which go from invisible to silent". It is a stark and powerful line.

This is great, the kind of work I enjoy, detailed, poignant, well written. Excellent Stefon !

Your words are true. Some dates seem more important than another. I like the use of Edgar to give reason and balance to the poem. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

Yes, being inspired by someone is a great thing though I am sure that you yourself will become a great personality and that you will feel proud of being simply you. Nicely written poem.
