He Holds Corners

He Holds Corners

A Poem by Stefon Napier

I hold my smile awhile

With it, the day lasts even longer

I've been a fool, staining everything with my unwarranted silence

and unheard of sense of self

Every night is an unpaid ultimatum

I quiver instead of breathe

Somehow destiny isn't always a path before you

Being rather like a steep dive into untold water

Even so, I'll hold on to this smile

Something to carry on those cold nights when whispers chill.

I agree.

The poem is very good. I like the tone and the above lines. We can't give in or show weakness. Hold on to the smile and move on. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
