Disillusionment

Disillusionment

A Poem by PerpetuallyJune
"

On cliches and my abstract take on them.

"

Broken promises and blatant half-lies
What is real and what is not?
Dissonant chords and deceptive cadences
Cursed are the battles never fought.
(Keep your friends close and your enemies closer)

Cheating gamblers and cherry lollipops
At which point are you truly ‘all grown up?’
Judgmental adolescents and soiled diapers
Watch yourself as you drink from that red solo cup.
(You may meet your fate on the path you take to avoid it)

Pop songs and cheesy romcoms
Is he lying or is he like, for real?
Deleted texts and escalated trust issues
Think wisely before you seal the deal.
(Are you in love or in love with the idea of love?)

Utter losses and dry sobs
How many times will you fail?
Countless questions and sweaty palms
Keep pushing on until you prevail.
(Do or do not; there is no try)
