Rose With Thorns

Rose With Thorns

A Poem by Sage Kallen

In calling wind is a melody not know to man.

In the river is a trickle only seen by those who wait and stand.

This world has much darkness, but also much beauty.

It is like that of a rose, that can draw blood or captivate the eye.

But when the sun glistens down from the sky,

you can’t help but to wonder why you deserve to be smiled on by such light?

why you deserve such a happy and wonderful life?

It’s true I look for the arrow in all, but what I've come to realize is

that there is beauty in it all.

This world puts me at peace when I run through the woods,

and listen to the trees that dance to the tunes.

Have you ever stopped to listen to the wind sing its cries?

or see the river flow by, stop to smell the flowers and understand what they’ve been through.

How they can still be so beautiful after all the winters that pass through.

In our world, there is so much darkness, but we would not be able to see this darkness if there wasn’t light.

The brighter the light the darker the shadow,

the dimmer the light the less that darkness seems present.

think about this, then wonder if your focusing on the black,

does that not mean that much light is shining into your life?

What a pleasant and cursed world we live in.

So captivating that it takes my breath away,

so fragile, and cruel that it jabs knives into my back.

But no matter how much I hurt I wouldn’t change any of it,

not even a word.
