Kartridge Grey

Kartridge Grey

A Poem by Ezra Kaossed

Flesh stretched over motherboards
grotesque denizens run in hordes
as the electric wind surges down the street

Power stations rumble in the distance
flashes of phosphorus from the Resistance
acid burns through the bone

Cyber seduction marbled idols
gaze with vacant eyes, down the halls of a dilapidated shopping mall
the past blares through cracked speakers slow and garbled

An old computer wheezes back to life
operating system corrupted, strife
arguing with itself, suicide

Death sleeps as the world falls
into immortal rebirth
crowded lands break
open, unleashing a digital apocalypse
swallowing data into its destroying pits
