Fire

Fire

A Poem by somedayiwill

It was in the fire that I saw your eyes
burning into mine
telling me what I did was
wrong, wrong, wrong.

And it was in the flame's crackling that I heard your voice
my name being sputtered over and over in my ears
telling me that I was not the me you
knew, knew, knew.

And it was only in the brightness that I saw your passion
etching itself on my skin
I could not find you anywhere
else, else, else.

And it was only in the cold absence of the warmth that I knew you
freezing my soul
and making me
cold, cold, cold.

(That's the problem, sweetheart.
I only could ever see you in the light.
You were only there when it was bright.)
