We Forsake Our MotherA Poem by Sonder OpiaThis poems describes the issues of corporations draining natural resources and destroying woodland for the sake of power and money.Who deemed it right To bring our monsters of steel and noise And break into the surface Of our eternal home And the greed in our hearts Spread to our fingers And we kept digging and stealing All of her gifts Who deemed it right To eviscerate the landscapes Using fuel, raped from the land’s mother, For our hungry, toothed machines The destruction is little In the grand scale of things But the effect is great And in numbers, Misdemeanours become plagues And plagues spread like wildfire Though this wildfire is very tame This inferno of human origin Needs a dousing blow Of united minds and bodies If ever we are to be harmonious © 2016 Sonder OpiaFeatured Review
