Forgiveness

Forgiveness

A Poem by John Walters
"

What is forgiveness? Why do we forgive others of our pain? Letting go is a difficult process...

"
Remembering the way she spoke
I recall her eyes fixed upon mine
With a glare that could kill

A bully, I thought, all she was
Yet I felt hurt by what she said,
"You're nothing"

I struggled to hold back tears,
But somehow in the end,
I managed to

Years later
The effects of her unkindness
Still linger silently in my aching heart

But I'm stronger
I've let go
And I'm free

Whole, alive, and well
She is forgiven
But I still remember

Author's Note

John Walters
I encountered a very mean bullying girl in the 5th grade a long time ago. I still remember how mean she was to me. I forgave her and this is a poem about that incident. Please enjoy.
