DEAD TO SIN

DEAD TO SIN

A Poem by Tarella

For a long time,
I travelled the earth,
Like a vagabond,
Unsettled,
Disturbed,
Caged,
Enslaved to a dark life,
I gave myself to you,
Unaware of the fact,
That it would be,
My last act of freedom,
I constantly fought you,
With everything I had,
Fruitless attempts,
Its funny,
And quite scary at the same time,
I know what to do,
I know what is right,
And I'm well aware,
Of everything at stake,
Why am I constantly dragged around
In chains by you?
This slave-master relationship with you,
Is it never ending?
And while I thought hopelessly
About this,
Fighting the urges,
To sin again,
These words hit me,
Didn't He say on the cross,
That it was finished,
Didn't His Word tell me,
That my past life
Was nailed to the cross with him?
And I remembered,
"By strength shall no man prevail,"
And His strength,
Is made perfect in our weaknesses,
All along,
I just didn't understand,
The freedom and grace you bestowed
Upon me,
Once I realized this,
I looked sin,
Straight in the eye,
And said,
"This thing between you and me,
Its not working,
You have to leave,
Take all your stuff with you,
I have no use for them,
I found someone else,
Who promises the ultimate serenity,
My panacea,
His words are like a sweet lullaby,
And His love,
Like nothing I've ever seen,
And His mercies,
No man can phantom,
But you,
Reek of desperation,
A repugnant stench of death,
I owe you nothing,
Not even a cent,
I can't see you,
I can't feel you,
And your words,
Are foreign objects,
Out of this lifeless life,
I rise into the body of Christ,
I'm dead to you.

Yes, Yes dead to sin!! His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses. Who can be against us with God got our backs. A wonderful poem filled with strength and blessings. We can fight the darkness if we put our mind to it or we can let it eat us to nothing. Beautiful inspiring write. Thank you for this :)
