usA Poem by sophiejrobertsWe are the universe. We are the wind though our ancestors meadows And the few coins in their pockets. The coal on our miners’ cheeks And the hands that held the chisel. We are the muffled conversations that pass our houses at night. The headlights that go by us on the drive home from work. We are the crashing of high tide And the immersed world below it. The last leaf to fall in autumn And the first shoot of spring. We are the universe. © 2015 sophiejrobertsAuthor's Note
