~Light years away...

~Light years away...

A Poem by Sophy Freebirds
"

Flight from dream to regret

"
Smiling,I say "We are just a twinkle away"
You shimmer violently in protest so great...

Bidding you farewell,
Falling from the silver studded blanket,
I stare at the distracting blue mass with awe..

Gleeful asteroids greet me with waving tails...
Virile mars does a gentleman's bow as i fade away..
Red giants burn with regret in mysterious hue..

Realisation struck me half flight,
Going through transition from
Vaccuum of valued vanity,
To the atmosphere of lost sanity....
Each second dragging me away from my cosmic dream,
Gravitating towards the human realm..

I fall.... and fall.... and fall.....
Till i hit the earthly dust with a thud!

Now gazing up at the by- gone vision..
I sigh... at my foolish adoration...
Trapped in this black hole of trepidation!

Remembering my mock assurance in vain,
Grovelling in dull penitence grains...
O yes!!....
I am just light years away...
Just..... light years away....

As always, this poem is amazing. You have a way with the way with making your lines flow with such eloquence. It is really a pleasure to read these words and just unjoy the ride. I know all about distractions and how they can cost you much. Thanks for sharing

Wonderful writing from you Sophy, it's hard not to lose sight of things sometimes, I love the line about realization hitting half flight, I think realizing is the important thing, so we can get back on track. One opportunity lost, could lead to another found. Great thought provoking piece.

these lyrics are beautiful and tragic at the same time...this reminds me so much of The Moody Blues...

i could hear them singing this..."vacuum of valued vanity/to the atmosphere of lost sanity"---

wish i had written that.

:) i am delighted you liked it. Thank you Zachary
if planets could sing I do believe they would sing to us in a dream and this is what they would say. But who am I to say what planets can do? I am but a speck in the cosmos, caught up in some great fantasy that is life. Once we cast this shell we will listen to the quiet and quell of the planets. What a beautiful, ethereal lament. Thank you for sharing it with us.

You're most welcome. It was a pleasure!
I felt like I was up somewhere but up then the livelyness of it took my over and why not to say it there is cute in this Sohpy (nods) untile the viril mars that is which is a great Image although I think more of an agricultural image nowadays. The dramatic change and definitely not an easy step to imagine comes to me at valued vanity to insanity oh my without warning? It seems not as you get pulled down enough of this up in the air moments only to be reminded of how your ideals are wating for you and although distant not moving so patience.

Great Images here

Thankyou

Loved it! If you haven't seen the movie Contact, do yourself a favor and rent it out. It has plenty to do with space and one of the lines in the movie is: 'They should have sent a poet'. After reading this I felt as though maybe you should have been up there.
