Poor kid

Poor kid

A Poem by Soren

As a child we were so poor

that I couldn't afford an imaginary friend

For Christmas my favorite gift for sure

was a second hand air guitar for pretend

When I was small we were so poor

I only got to eat dirt, when company came

Although it made us as babies sore

disposable diapers we did reclaim

Often I would have to run

to avoid repossession of my skin as raiment

Daily, they would turn off the sun

due to lack of payment

Dear Soren,

You made me cry with your words here. Indeed, there is such heart-breaking poverty in this world. Why? Who made money? Why couldn't there have been some other system of existence wherein everyone had the semblance of a human existence? Poverty makes this earthly experience so beastly, so inhuman. Why? When all are born with the same skin, the same senses, the same desires and the same hunger? Is the earth a purgatory of some kind for some and a reward for unknown things for yet others? Will never know the answers. Suffice to say, this poem is powerful and profound and your words drive the message home with full impact! Kudos!

Indeed, so true. All we can do is reach out the best we can.
Hi Soren,
Oh my goodness, how sad but true this situation is all over the world.
I especially like your lines
Daily, they would turn off the sun
due to lack of payment
This could mean so much...especially as a metaphor..and I do so love metaphors.
I just reread your poem for the 3rd time and I again so much hidden meaning in it.
I found your rhyming very interesting ...
Loved so much of this dear Soren,

Yes, because being poor doesn't mean you do not see the light.

This made me feel really sad because some do live in dire poverty. I doubt that they see much sunshine either. Once experienced, never forgotten Soren.

But your spirit still shone through as you survived this !
As many will survive the poverty snd homeless situation now
Loved the imaginary air guitar and friend
And how they turned the sun off very good !
