Resurrection men

Resurrection men

A Poem by Soren

Swarms of larval words
devour decaying thoughts
Cobwebs of restraint hold vacant shells
of ideas, once vibrant, sucked dry
Now hollow husks echo
strung from nails of rust
covered with age's dust
Writing's gallows
where resurrection men
steal the dead,
draining ink from their veins,
peeling back their sentence skin,
revealing gramatical guts
but not its breath

The decay of death in every way possible; everything is hollow covered by cobwebs…and dust….the haunting part to me were the resurrection men who steal the dead and resurrect them into what ever suits them…. “ everything except breath” ghostly! Great writing!

Thanks Thomas for the review and comment
the metaphorical nature of this is superb...I have read much poetry that reveals grammatical guts...but no longer breathes. Sometimes we hang ourselves on that gallows of reckoning...form over substance.
