There was you

There was me

There was us.

How quickly that changed.....

There was you

There was the part of me that was now you

There was your image of us.

For years I dealt with it

Sitting in the shame of not being myself

In the guilt for how you treated me.

You acted as though I was just a part of you

The part of you that you hated

The part of you that you wanted gone

The part of you that you abused.

As a child I was everything you wished you could've been.

Thats when you took it all away from me.

You couldn't live with that. It was more than your ego could take.

You decided it was time to take the only part of me that would hurt the worst.

You decided it was time to take my spirit.

So you snatched it. Like a monster.

Like the beast that you are.

You took it for yours like the rest of me.

For years I let that be.

For years I let that conquer me.

For years I let that go.

For year I let that disappear.

Like it never happened.

Until today.............

Today is the day I came back to claim it.

Today is the day I came back to be a warrior.

Today is the day I came back to my rightful place.

A place of peace

A place of comfort

A place of me.

Free from you.

From your pain.

From your unhealed trauma.

From your illness.
