THE BOY THAT IS A MAN

THE BOY THAT IS A MAN

A Poem by Southern Cross
"

..inspired by a boy who is a man...and a Bobblehead

"

THE BOY THAT IS A MAN

He said he wanted to inspire me

Kind of a payback on his part.

Never knowing that he already did.

He brought back laughter to erase tears

Giggles to silence the cries.

This boy with the voice of  a man.

And in his words, dare I see myself?

Do the whispers that breathe

Breathe a sigh for me?

Am I awake in his thoughts as I restlessly sleep?

This boy that is a man

Has taught me much without a touch.

I have entered the window to his soul

As I keep mine tightly shut.

You can hear my laughter..never my sighs.

Can souls unite in some magical Universe

Unknown to others but the two?

He has caressed me blindfolded

Felt the upward turn of my mouth

The glint of surprise in my eyes

Never seeing ..only knowing

This boy that is a man.

My clipped wings feel flight

Soar through endless skies

Within my cage. Gliding yet stationary.

He has taught me ..this boy that is a man.

It is not time that ages us.

We can grow old or young because of what life has

Bestowed upon us.

Aging comes from experience ..not years.

A beautiful poem and definitely the kind to get a bobblehead wobbling. Loved the imagery in this, and the way that it didn't have a rhyme scheme, and yet it rhymed. It was a natural selection of words that fit, rhyming when appropriate, not rhyming when it wasn't necessary.

"My clipped wings feel flight / Soar through endless skies / Within my cage. Gliding yet stationary." This was a powerful line and it ended very well, tightly wrapping up the flow that preceded it.

Its amazing how laughter can waylay the heart of our heart. It heals us. Erasing tears and silencing cries. The best friendships, the best relationships, have this in it. "He has caressed me blindfolded / Felt the upward turn of my mouth / The glint of surprise in my eyes" This is just one example of that natural flow and rhyme that I was talking about. And the language of this was...beautiful to say the least. And I mean to say the least. A wonderful poem, from a wonderful soul.

The Look

Stephon kissed me in the spring,
Robin in the fall ,
But Colin only looked at me
And never kissed at all .

Stephon's kiss was lost in jest ,
Robin's lost in play ,
But the kiss in Colin's eyes
Haunts me night and day .

The title itself would make a great book - get writing...now!
As for the poem, it's so warm and as if the monitor has reached out with a big hug. It will touch everyone who reads it simply because its a tribute from one heart to another.

What Machina Writer said was what I was going to say but he got there first :)
