Kicking the snake

The snake sweeps in to take you, to shake you, to break you, to make you believe that you don't need a reprieve and says that you can't retrieve, what was worn on your sleeves, that was dirtied by the dust in which he weaves, making a mountain of dirt into a fountain hurt that flows until you stand up and change your shirt.

Haha! I loved this. I loved the simplicity at the end "until you stand up and change your shirt". It wasn't dramatic, or artsy fartsy, it was just real life words strung through beautiful lines of poetry. I like how you kept your rhyming going, it kept me wanting to read. This was a really good poem. Thank you for sharing this.
