Winter

Winter

A Poem by Emmy J.M. Powell

When winter,
comes rolling around,
in its thermal coats,
and room heaters,
and frostbitten cheeks,

I am forced,
to put my motivation,
in 4-wheel drive,
and brave past the wind,
and the people,
and the temperatures,
that seep under,
my clothes and,
chill my skin,
down to the bone.
