Soon...

A Poem by Laura Sparkle

I wanna love you and treat you right

Make sure you get all the best I can provide…

Fulfill all your dreams and make you smile…

But I cannot comprehend the words you say to me…

“I love you more than anything…”

Translation please? I don’t feel anything…

Don’t cry, don’t punch holes through walls…

Leave the bottle down and don’t pick up a gun…

“We have to be honest with each other...”

Fine, you asked for it: I don’t feel anything towards you.

And all your words frustrate me… I don’t understand…

I need some translations and a map… and a guide!

For all I can do is echo back your words…

Play it by ear… acting became useful… I can pretend… so well.

You might be beneficial… but can’t wrap my mind around the concept…

“Boyfriend” Other than the one I love…

And don’t worry, all will be ending soon… I’ll watch over you, since you have been so kind.

I've been in similar situations...
It says so much about things that are not ever said...
I can't wait to get through more of your writing...

I totally agree with the other reviewers here hun. It was such a great poem! But love isnt something one should force either. It dosent matter where a person comes from or how it was taught; it still is the same, and should be respected forever. It's a timely process that should build and build. Love takes time, and we all should try to be patient when it comes to the situation. But most importantly, one must know what true love really is. Of course there would be many definitions, however, one must realize the actual meaning of what it means to love another soul deeply, unconditionally. Well done here!

Y'know if some of the girls I liked in high school put it this beautifully it probably wouldn't have stung so bad. Laura I love the structure, the way it was "broken up" between each verse (or couplet) whatever the technical term may be. The way you have it set up really made me slow down and read it. You made me feel what the narrator was feeling, but at the same time made me remember what it was like to be on the other end of this conversation. Nice work!

It makes me ask a question to all humanity? Why do people push and push love, when love is not returned in the same manor. Like so many friends get upset and leave when one starts dating just one person. I really like this poem, it speaks a simple yet elusive question, that the truth is simple but often missunderstood. Great job on this work. And drink hot chocolate, makes all the bad demons go away! lol :)

love unfelt ought not be forced. if you dont feel it, don't say it. you can still be together, and see if it forms later. discuss it with your lad, see what happens. explain it gently, and be sure to let him know you still want to be together, just aren't feeling it at the moment, and that you want to see if it will form with time.
