A Poem by Laura Sparkle

All good memories, stored away in the heart that is now taped up.

Superglue was used and so was ductape…

Iron bars surround it again…

Counting each beat.

One-two.

One-two.

Hopelessly following,

Chained to keep everything in…

Locked tight to this stupid and endless charade…

Letting go of this shall be a mistake I am ready to commit for this love.

And I swear I am trying too hard to keep safe

Keep it all locked up inside and try

Not to break down.

One-two.

One-two.

Nails bite into it

And it bleeds in your heart again.

Where you saved me now you let me go, slowly.

And you hold on to my life and love but let them drop into the mud

Of this world…that is ruthless and cold and wet…

Allow my heart to shatter again, let go

And feel the beat.

One-two.

One-two.

Last chance to save me.

Don’t let me fall and break myself.

Or maybe… then again that’s right. You don’t care.

But you say you’ll always love me. Then why leave me here behind… alone?

I’m screaming for you and can’t feel my throat…

I can hear your voice in my head “No”.

Do I care? do you?

One-Two

One.

Now I’m fixed.
