WINDIGO

WINDIGO

A Poem by Dash the Reaper
"

Windigo - a creature or spirit that either possess characteristics of a human or a monster that had physically transformed from a person and feeds on human flesh..

"

Your smile, those lips so toxic, they will forever haunt my thoughts

No matter how fake it seemed I fell for it & got addicted

Love, lust or both I spent most times debating what it was

I was delusional, maybe I overdosed on my meds

Your eyes, i always wondered what it was about them

In my eyes I saw a girl in love, in reality you were just luring me to your cave

My sweet slumber was cut short by your sharp teeth sinking in.

Every time I try to sleep I see those seductive inviting eyes, I AM HAUNTED

Tender & innocent I believed you were heaven sent, I let my defences down

I tried to resist but you pulled me with your sweet words & grey promises

I LOVE YOU, just random words that actually meant nothing to you

I tried to run, but you did what you do best emotional manipulation, I stayed

Windigo is what I can call you, you fattened me up before the feast

You ate everything, no left overs just a dark hole in my heart

You feasted on the love, innocence & you even had the trust for dessert

In the processes you turned me into you, someone who feeds on innocent juicy hearts

Gritty and gloomy.... but yet sweet and sultry too

This one, along with the sequel are really neat writes. I love material that makes me think/ponder and this sure did. I had to go and look up what a Windigo is. I loved your use of this mythology to apply to a broken heart. I actually wrote a poem a while back with a very similar theme: my heart was broken, so I then broke other hearts. I love your asterisk line in the sequel poem, cause it's so true. Broken hearts will for sure either cause us to break other's hearts (like in these and my poem) or help us to be better lovers to our next endeavors. I loved these!

Ah the wendigo or windigo - much less explored and exploited than the vampire and in this case refreshingly so. My first experience with this monster was Algernon Blackwood's story "The Wendigo" a true horror story.
Love when it isn't love is monstrous and this is a fine poem about that monstrosity.

A great dark tale to tell the dangers of falling for the wrong person. If affects you forever, and sometimes, not for the best. Well done! The Windigo is a great term to use in context of the situation!

thanks for reviewing mou
The Wendigo is a personal favorite out of all the legends so this really caught my attention! I was pleasantly surprised to see how you incorporated the whole idea/story behind the Wendigo into your poem about falling into the trap of who knows what. Very well written!
