Running With The Pack

Running With The Pack

A Poem by spence

Scattered blindly to oblivion
Never slowing down
Heeding not the warning signs
Flagging all around
Heading for destruction
On the blinkered road ahead
Falling to a great abyss
Until everything is dead

A seminal smack:
'We're under attack!'
Don't look back...
Running with the pack

Majorities don't want to see
Convenience rules thought
Minorities are ridiculed
Denial of lessons taught
But when they're told, 'The End is Nigh!'
They put their stock in those
That caused the problem in the first place
But that's the way it goes...

Subliminal snacks
What do you lack?
Free will cracks
Running with the pack!

...when a populace is mollified
Or petrified from reason
When autonomy of deed or thought
Are tantamount to treason
When opinions are self contained
In fear of 'big decisions'
In comfort zones of every home
Where 'reality' is television

Face the facts
Fads and acts
Watch your back!
Running with the pack!

Here nothing- there nothing
A candy cane existence
Blind and deaf and muted
To concepts of resistance,
Ideologies of change,
Ideas for direct action
Won't compromise a lifestyle
Of such self satisfaction

Lies intact
Chips are stacked
Something snaps
Running with the pack!

Sugar coated confidence
In state morality
Crisis are contrived
For a databased identity
Endless debt- terror threat
Epidemics, always more
Sparse resources? State endorses
Another mindless war

A seminal smack
Free will cracks
Fads and acts
Running with the pack

Subliminal snacks
Chips are stacked
Watch your back
Running with the pack!
