Space

Space

A Poem by Norrin Shearer

Dark, empty, vast
The void beyond earth is nothing
Dark, cold alone
Out in space there is no light
Dark, hopeless, frightening
The weight of loneliness is too much to bear
Dark, crushing, relentless
The air leaves my chest
Dark, blight, sickness
Hope is extinguished like the flame of a dying star
Dark, Ominous, Blank
Despair fills my lungs when I need oxygen instead
Dark, hollow, desolate
I am lost in this endless expanse
Dark, empty, vast
