THE ENDLESS CRY

THE ENDLESS CRY

A Poem by SAYED THANGAL
"

society, miseries, the never ending cry

"
THE ENDLESS CRY

Horrified screaming, twisting, rolling

Of children, thirsty, hungry inside the tent.

Effort, in vain, of mothers to console

Out, under the hot sun, among the mob, squeeze

To grab a handful to eat.

      Innocent orphans expect their dads

Not knowing, they may have been smashed.

From the eyes, the warm drops

Of the widows, deep sigh, within,

      While the glad moments memorized.

Thrown out to street

Not a centre to treat,

With fatal injuries, least care, forsaken

The stretching, vast, deserted land before

The visible sky, above, the only roof.

      Insanity, pestilence and diseases

      Their legacy for the posterity.

Miseries, sorrows endless, over the years.

      Have them turned refugees

      Once, well established families.

Hard work realized the dream homes,

Centuries old cultural heritages,

Museums, bridges, roads, tele-media

A moment's target, trembled,

Razed all to the ground.

Oh ! the world,  disclose yourself

Who is the winner ? what is the winning ?

Bodies over dead bodies, not a kin to bury

Nothing, but the foul smell from the non buried heaps.

Is it the win ? Is it the gain ? Is it the fame ?

A very mournful poetry. Terrific.... A very live picture you have made.

Horrified screaming, twisting, rolling
Of children, thirsty, hungry inside the tent.

" Is it the win ? Is it the gain ? Is it the fame ? " ... Perhaps. Often, it's about resources, power, fear or religion (or all of those.) Waste. Such waste.

The 'what' Needs a capital letter in: " Who is the winner ? what is the winning ?" ... to be a correct sentence.

- There are many other lines in your poem worthy of quoting for the clarity of description and truthfulness, you convey what are "just" images of "people somewhere" on TV and in the press with humanity and tact, a (horribly) beautiful poem. Powerful words.

Strikingly graphic. I feel that you've captured a still frame of horror and brought it to life. Wonderfully written. Good work Sir.
