THE LITTLE DROPS

THE LITTLE DROPS

A Poem by SAYED THANGAL
"

Rain the gift of God

"
Tip toed unnoticed from their mother,

Rising slowly rising upward,

Intentionally without all the qualities;

Which are common every where in the sea.

To the region of sovereign power- the destination,

Boundless freedom to move on and on,

Just like children when away from the guards,

Select the direction which ever they like.

Bored after the tiring journey tends to return

But hurriedly , hasten to their home;

Very mischievous they are; often awaken the sleepy

And tickle flowers and leaves.

The frogs, from their holes, peep

To see the little masters,

The long slept seeds open their eyes

To greet the well wisher.

No time to waste nor to wait

In no time are  streams formed

Finding their way to rivers,

Jumping, running and then rushing to the mother's lap.

Sayed, this poem makes me think of my time with with the land. I too have tilled the soil and in the dryness of the season there is no more dramatic and transcending moment then when the rain falls upon one in the middle of a hot dry field. Each drop that strikes the up-turned face and falls upon the sun-baked skin evokes a thought that itself is lost in time. This is what your poem does for me. Thank you for writing it.

thanks so much for your lovely words
This is a really marvellous description of the water cycle, Sayed. I would have to copy paste the whole poem here to give an example of a line I think most good, as they are all good, and the way you take the raindrops from the sea through their little lives back into the sea is excellent.
