Three Special Words

In memory of a friend.

My feelings for you are so strong,
Though I have never told you the three most important words:
I love you.
I tried to tell you,
But I was too weak,
Too shy.

I should have told you before it was too late;
Opportunities can pass by.
Mine did,
Now you’re gone.
You’ve gone to the world beyond;
The world where you’re happy,
But everyone you left behind is miserable.

Now those three special words are left unsaid.
Things will never be the same.
I should have told you that I love you,
I should have told you when I had the chance.
I don’t have that chance anymore.

I am unsure if you can hear me;
I hope you can.
I still need you;
I’m lost without you.

The three special words are now said:
I love you;
I love you with all my heart.
I miss you;
I’ll miss you forever,
Forever and more.

Beautiful work. You've managed to capture the pain of losing someone, and then having to bear the pain of knowing you cannot be in their physical presence again. I believe these lines sum it up well:

"You've gone to the world beyond;
The world where you're happy,
But everyone you left behind is miserable."

This was from the heart, and captures well what you were feeling. Great work!

I like!! You reveal your inner thoughts with emotions flowing thru to your reader. You had me recalling those I wish I'd said those three words to and a couple I wish I hadn't. Thanks for sharing!
